Not only was this a great way to let newer Liberty Village residents feel welcome and valued but it also serves as a terrific tool to boost the profile of some of our great local businesses. We have been talking about approaching local businesses for quite some time to arrange a reciprocal arrangement like this one but I am glad that the BIA beat us to it. We will just have to do something better!
The welcoming letter included does a wonderful job of summarizing the historical aspect of Liberty Village and talking about the role the Inglis factory played here. For those of you who are not aware, Inglis was the foremost factory in Liberty Village starting back in 1881. They manufactured everything from flour mills to pumping engines to weaponry. Eventually Inglis became best-known for their home appliances and then picked up and moved out of Liberty Village in 1981.
The contents of the Welcome Kit includes dozens of coupons and flyers from local businesses including $5 off at Panago Pizza, a free dinner for two at School, a gingerbread cookie from Mad Batters Bakers, Chocolate from Metro and a toothbrush from Liberty Village Dental.
Again, a wonderful idea and something that we will be looking to continue with as we aim to strengthen the relationship between local residents and businesses. Remember, as our local businesses begin to flourish, new and creative businesses will look to Liberty Village as a great place to open. It’s a win/win.
