You now have a new Liberty Village spot when the craving hits for some quality Italian food.

Just in time for the cold weather, Bugigattolo, a new Calabria-inspired Italian restaurant, will soon open up its doors at 54 Fraser Avenue, offering up comforting home-style dishes.

Taking a rustic approach in creating their food, the new spot has a mandate to base their cooking on old-school Italian preparation techniques, seasonal ingredient availability, and a unique set of cultural influences.

Just what the ‘hood needs, right? (No, seriously, we can’t get enough, especially when we’re in need of a break from the ample high-end pub grub).

Don’t worry about getting all dressed up either; while it’s designed to taste like home, it also feels like home, offering a relaxed environment to shamelessly indulge in the gourmet goodness.

BugigattoloBy “goodness,” this means things like lasagna made in-house and topped with shaved Parmesan, an assortment of pizzas, and artistic looking pastas that are totally worth breaking that diet for. Vegetarian dishes include things like the sauce-heavy (in a good way) Eggplant Parmigiana and the hearty Insalata Radiccio.

BugigattoloThey’re even open for brunch, with offerings that go well beyond your typical bacon and egg dish. Those perfect sunny-side-ups come with a side of things like heirloom tomato, prosciutto, and provolone cheese.

Naturally, their cappuccinos also rival those of some of the neighbourhood’s gourmet coffee joints.

Welcome to the neighbourhood, Bugigattolo!

The owner is losing staff because he doesn’t pay them.
