Scotiabank users rejoice! We now have a branch within our community. With the addition of Scotiabank, we now have a presence of the big 5 banks here in Liberty Village.
On July 24th, Scotiabank officially opened their doors here in Liberty Village. Taking up residence in part of the Kevric Real Estate owned and managed building, their official address is 10 Liberty St. This branch is not like most found throughout the city. It maintains the aesthetics of the heritage building, which once was the home of the Brunswick Balke Collender Company who manufactured floors for bowling alleys. Later, billiard tables, cue balls, and other equipment were made here until 1959 (information from the Liberty Village BIA website). Fast forward to present day, and the Kevric building is not only home to Scotiabank, but also to Loblaw Digital, Soho VFX and more big names to come.
It is a full-service branch set up here in Liberty Village. Home of the SCENE loyalty card they, Scotiabank is paired up with another national community-based company, Cineplex. With the SCENE card, it provides incentives to obtain free movies and snacks at Cineplex theatres. Other standard banking services are certainly available such as day-to-day chequing/saving accounts, credit cards, mortgages, and investing. The branch manager of this location is Kaveh Nourmofidi.
“We here at Scotiabank are truly excited to join the Liberty Village community. We are thrilled for the opportunity to give back to our customers and the community. We have planned many great initiatives such as “Financial Literacy” seminars, which we will hold at our amazing location.
If you have not had the opportunity to stop by and see us, I highly recommend doing so. Our building is absolutely gorgeous with an extended history, which we are very proud of. It is a historic site and we will be glad to give you a quick tour! We look forward to seeing all of our neighbours.” – Kaveh Nourmofidi, Branch Manager
From a philanthropic side, Scotiabank has a vested interest in hockey, arts, marathons, and community. They hosted an AIDs walk earlier in September, play a huge part in the sponsorship of various programs like Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada and Rogers Hometown Hockey. A very notable recent announcement was that Scotiabank has just struck a $800 million deal for the naming rights of the Toronto Air Canada Centre (home to the NHL Hockey team of the Toronto Maple Leafs). Effective July 1st, 2018, the venue will be renamed to the Scotiabank Arena.
Take a stroll through the community and be sure to stop by!
