newspaperThe busier Liberty Village gets, the more we find our neighbourhood popping up in various news stories for various reasons. Every once in a while, we like to collect a few of them and share them with our loyal readers.

Due in large part to the popularity of LibertyVillageToronto.com, Heikki Walden and I are often called upon by local media sources to comment for news stories related to Liberty Village. The media has recognized us as local boosters which you will see from some of our article selections this week.

In a recent article for Metro entitled “Mad Men Invade Liberty Village” I was asked to comment on some of the recent changes Liberty Village has seen as a result of rapid condo development as well as Liberty Village’s status as a creative hub for some of Canada’s best Advertising and Marketing agencies. You can find the article here.

I was also recently called by a Toronto Sun reporter to comment on the “big problem” associated with police horses pooping in Liberty Village (seriously). I really didn’t know what to say to the reporter because he clearly had an intended direction with this article and, as far as I can tell, horse poop really isn’t a significant problem in Liberty Village. I quickly realized that no mater what I said, this reporter was going to misquote me to support his position. He did just that. Read the article here.

There was also this unfortunate story about the pervert nabbed at our local Metro for filming up womens’ skirts using a cell phone.

And finally, there has been a lot of recent coverage about our local pig abattoir on Tecumseth and the stench that locals must endure, especially in the summer months. Should Quality Meat Packers be forced out to accommodate the growing residential population (and their sense of smell) or should we just accept it as our neighbour? Read the story here. Lots of good debate about this topic and I always welcome you to share your views in our comments section.

Till next time.
