Liberty Village Toronto | Your Online Neighbourhood Guide

The Blog

As the cost of urban detached housing continues to soar, we’ve seen more kids in the downtown core – including Liberty Village – than ever before.

While the little munchkins may not have sprawling backyards complete with tree houses, they do have an increasing amount of kid-oriented options just a quick stroller ride away from their condo lobby.

Case in point: the soon-to-open Children’s Discovery Centre on Strachan Ave, designed specifically for curious minds of children under the age of six.

The brainchild of Jeanhy Shim – an urban mom and real estate development strategist – the centre functions like a vibrant museum for young kids and was created with the help of a team of early childhood development experts. It’s designed as an interactive educational, recreational, and research centre and is the first of its kind in Toronto.

If you ask us, it’s like a dynamic art and imagination-filled playground that makes learning (gasp) fun not only for your young ones, but yourself as well. Basically, kids are free to explore, learn, and create using all senses.

Open May-October, the centre will feature dynamic and interactive art installations, imaginative play, arts and crafts, and no shortage of options for physical activity (so they’ll be nicely exhausted come naptime).

The centre opens on Saturday, May 23rd.
