It doesn’t take long to figure out that Liberty Village is bursting with music and music production. For some, it may not be obviously noticeable at a first glance. Meet some of Canada’s top music makers who are calling Liberty Village home, and open up your ears and hearts to some great talent and organizations.

Located in a Toronto Carpet Factory property, they are a national advocate for Canadian music artists and all aspects of production. As a not for profit organization, they gather, share and publish statistics on the Canadian music landscape. In addition, Music Canada works with many industry and government organizations to help create ethical standards in many facets including creation, production and marketing. One of their most well known efforts is in the administering and awarding of the Gold/Platinum Best Selling Recordings in Canada. Follow Music Canada on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Having just moved into the neighborhood this past summer, they are delighted with the area. Roland has two national offices with the other one located in Vancouver. They are a multi-faceted organization. Selling what they are traditionally known for which are various production equipment and instruments, they also offer workshops and manage some music talent. Another unique feature about Roland is that they opened their first Inspiration Centre at the Liberty Village location! Follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Located in an inconspicuous unit within the Liberty Market Building, what Post Office Sound produces is anything but ordinary. As their name suggests, no mail delivery service is available. By day, they work with many corporate accounts on projects like sound productions for radio and television. At night, their studio comes alive with up and coming and some well known recording artists curating their next big hit. Follow Post Office Sound on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Their office and studio may be small and unassuming, but Indie 88’s reach is far, wide and impactful. Calling Liberty Village home, they broke out onto the airwaves in the summer of 2013 as Canada’s first Indie radio station. They showcase rising Canadian artists and groups. Indie 88 is also present and showing their support at many concerts and events throughout the city. They had a tent at the Liberty Village BIA’s Give Me Liberty Party back in June. Listen up for their private studio contests, often held in partnership with fellow Liberty Village music company, Post Office Sound. Follow Indie 88 on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or tune in your radio dial to 88.1FM.

Liberty Village should be really proud of Jazz FM, as they are a not for profit organization and Canada’s sole broadcaster, “dedicated to enriching the cultural, educational, and community experience of their audience”, (taken from Jazz FM’s official website). They  take pride in being able to offer various programs and workshops to help students and up and coming artists gain valuable music and jazz experience. Jazz FM is located on Paradee Ave., broadcasting jazz music 24/7 for more than half a million listeners everyday. Follow Jazz FM on Facebook, Twitter or on the radio at 91.1FM.

We have so much to appreciate and enjoy musically, here in Liberty Village!
