Liberty Village Toronto | Your Online Neighbourhood Guide

The Blog

For the best dance classes in Liberty Village, there’s only one place to set your sights on and that’s Danceology. The Danceology brand specializes in ballroom and Latin dancing, providing lessons to beginners through to ballroom competitors. Hosting weekly practices, this is a very social place to come so it’s a great opportunity to meet others in the neighbourhood while learning more about your dance style of choice.

Danceology is found in the Liberty Market Building and has been set up there for over ten years. The company has been helping couples learn how to dance, as well as assisting with corporate events, weddings, ballroom dancing, Latin dancing, and offering private lessons.

Some of the specialties you can find at Danceology includes a wide variety of Latin dancing, such as rhumba, cha cha, mambo, salsa, merengue, hustle, swing, east and west coast swing, jive, samba, bolero, and more. Instructors are available to help plan and choreograph the first dance for your wedding. Also, should you decide to go the route of private lessons, there are instructors to help with ballroom dance steps including the tango, waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, and the Viennese waltz.

Danceology is owned and operated by Marla Vettese, an instructor, choreographer, who has over two decades of experience in ballroom dancing. Vettese also has an extensive fitness background and is very accomplished in yoga, Pilates, and more. It’s her interest in fitness that has helped to inform the classes at Danceology. As a former manager, top Canadian rhythm competitive dancer, and now coach, it’s her perspective that has been the lifeblood at Danceology.

She is assisted at Danceology by certified ballroom and Latin dance instructor Scott Kvasni, who has an extensive background in tap, jazz, and ballet, having competed internationally. Kvasni’s also been seen in several music videos, has provided choreography for different programs, and continues to host the Northern Stars Dance Competition which is one of Ontario’s largest dance competitions.

The studio manager, who is a certified ballroom and Latin dance instructor, Stilian Kostov is from Bulgaria. Kostov has competed on the amateur circuit, winning the Bulgarian Cup in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Stilian has also toured Asia sharing his passion and European-influenced choreography with new audiences. He brings all this knowledge to beginner classes where he works to set a strong foundation for all of his students.

If you’re looking for somewhere to get a thorough dance lesson, Danceology is the place. You’ll learn all the right steps and there’s plenty of ways to customize a lesson to suit a specific occasion or song. What’s even better is that your first dance is always free at Danceology so it’s a great opportunity to find out if it’s for you or not. Come on in and meet some of the instructors and see a little about what the studio’s about.
