On Friday March 23rd 2012, Liberty Village hosted it’s first food truck event at the parking lot of the Can Alfa Presentation Centre at 80 Lynn Williams St.
According to Suresh Doss, one of the organizers with Spotlight Toronto, this event was a test-run to see if there is enough interest in Liberty Village. By all accouts it was a huge success and a clear sign that Liberty Village is ready for the trucks.
Friday’s event welcomed Caplansky’s Thundering Thelma, which serves Montreal-style smoked meat sandwiches and other favourites including grilled cheese sandwiches, smoked meat poutine and a daily special. El Gastronomo Vagabundo was there offering up Asian-inspired tacos and tapas. Their transnational menu featured interesting takes on tacos like their popular Buddha Belly Taco which contains five spice pork belly, chili caramel, coconut cream, and cucumber…..um…yum! Blue Donkey Streatery offered their delicious Greek street-food. The fried calamari pita looked seriously tempting!
The local Liberty Village workforce were delighted to have this event and I know for a fact that the local residents would support a weekend event as well. Perhaps we will see another Foot Truck Event at one of our upcoming Liberty Village events?
Stay Tuned! We will keep you posted!
[…] Would be great if we could somehow plan another Food Truck Event to coincide with the Garage Sale? […]
