The long awaited pedestrian bridge that would connect Liberty Village to King West has been given the green light.
It was announced last week by our local city councillor, Mike Layton, that work will start this year on the design of the bridge and construction would begin in 2015 once Metrolinx has finished work in the rail corridor.
It was initially anticipated that this bridge was years and years away from becoming a reality but, to many people’s surprise, capital funding was allocated in the 2014 budget.
The bridge will link pedestrians and cyclists from Western Battery Rd to Douro St.
A huge bonus for those who use the King Streetcar and would rather not use Strachan or Atlantic.
