Word is spreading that the Liberty Village Farmer’s Market is looking for a space to accommodate a year-round market in Liberty Village.
Organized and operated by MyMarket, certifying that all of its vendors are verified farmers selling only what they produce, the season typically runs on Sundays 9am-2pm, from June 3rd – October 21st, in the Green P parking lot on Hanna Avenue.
Diana Gonzalez, The MyMarket Toronto District Supervisor, said she is starting to seek out a space suitable for the farmers market to run in the winter months. We at Liberty Village Toronto think that is a wonderful idea!
The Liberty Village Farmer’s Market has become a Sunday staple for us. Fresh fruits and veggies and a vendor selling organic beef, trout and home made savoury pies is why we keep going back. We are stocking our freezer with the organic beef in anticipation of the market closing for the winter but may not have to if Gonzalez gets her way. In light of a recent massive beef recalls, non-factory produced/processed foods are becoming that much more important.
She is optimistic plans for a year-round market will come together this year. It is just a matter of finding a location.
The market, whose last day at its outdoor location is slated for Sunday, Oct. 21, began in 2007 selling goods like organic vegetables, free range eggs, honey, Angus beef, baked goods, and maple syrup.
Gonzalez says that a year-round Liberty Village market would most likely stay on the same day and time as it is currently held and is looking for a location close to the original Green P location for shopping convenience.
The Liberty Village farmers’ markets feature only verified farmers, selling only what they produce.
A year round farmer’s market at Liberty Village is a super wonderful idea. I will shop there every week until I drop!
Thank you,
