Liberty Village Toronto | Your Online Neighbourhood Guide

The Blog

Free movies in Toronto parks has become a tradition for so many neighbourhoods across the GTA, including Liberty Village. They help bring communities together, encourage people to get outdoors and meet their neighbours, and it helps provide some free summer activities to partake in.

There’s no fee and no hidden charges. All you need to do is bring a blanket, sit down in the grass, and enjoy some of the biggest movies from the last few years. There’s usually a pre-show included with giveaways so if you’re ever just sitting around looking for something to do, free movies in Liberty Village Park might be something you want to jump at.

This year marks Liberty Village Park’s seventh consecutive year holding its free summer movie event. On June 22nd, free movies in Liberty Village Park will be returning with the critically acclaimed Black Panther. Invite a friend, family member or neighbour and enjoy a movie night under the summer sky!

Hosted by the Liberty Village Residents Association, these events have continued to grow in size every year. So far there are 3 movies planned, with Grease being shown on July 20 and the Jumanji remake being presented on August 24 to cap off the summer movie season.

In terms of a first choice, you can’t do much better than Black Panther which became one of the most profitable superhero films of all-time upon its release in January, 2018. Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther is the third full-length feature film from the acclaimed writer-director behind Fruitvale Station (2013) and Creed (2015).

Receiving praise for its direction, screenplay, acting, costume design, and soundtrack, Black Panther continues to be considered one of the most culturally significant films in the Marvel universe. So if you haven’t seen Black Panther yet, it’s well worth a watch and no doubt should adapt well to the family-friendly Liberty Village Park setting.

Movie night in Liberty Village Park is set to start sometime around 8:30 pm , but guests are recommended to arrive early to reserve their spot. Don’t forget to bring some popcorn in case you get hungry!
